Don’t get me wrong – I’m extra grateful that coeliac sandwiches are appearing in supermarkets and coffee houses over the UK. It’s just – the flavours are often quite… different.
Maybe I’m just a fussy eater?
Also many thanks to Annie (www.anniesupperclub.co.uk) for the idea for this one!
Exactly!! Glad to have been of inspirational use 😉
I’ve seen M&S have made their sangers bigger
The previous versions were very small!
I’m not against dairy but VERY lactose intolerant and they ALL contain butter/whey/milk which means they’re a no go for me (and prob lots of newly diagnosed coeliacs too). Very annoying and unnecessary.
Mayo doesn’t need to be watered down with milk. Marg doesn’t need to contain whey (which is used to fatten pigs by the way!) and a lot of hard cheeses are naturally virtually lactose free, so wouldn’t it be easy to do! The same can be said of any interesting looking GF ready meals in the freezer section. grrr. rant over…..
Even when there are decent flavors of sandwiches available you can’t guarantee that they haven’t been cross-contaminated by the preparation of other sandwiches on the same line. There are a couple of coffee houses here now offering gluten free bread for their sandwiches, but I hardly trust the person behind the counter to know how to prevent cross-contamination.
Waitrose also have some great GF options on their take away section!!!! YUMMY
